How to Apply for a UK Visa from the Philippines – August 2015

Getting a UK Visa is not that hard to do. Basically, all you need is a valid passport, a credit card, and a grasp of how to maneuver the internet. 🙂 Ideally you should make your application two months before your intended departure, however, you can apply and submit your application as late as two weeks before departure date. But just be a good boy and apply early.

Step 1: Go to the UK VISA Website to register a login account You will need a valid email and a password. Email must be valid and working because an email verification will be sent there.

Afterwards you have to log into the site.

Step 2: Choose either Apply For Myself or Apply For Someone Else

Afterwards you’ll be taken to a page where you will be asked the applicant’s details (date of birth, passport ID number, intended date of visit, etc). Under the same page, you will be asked to enter the VISA type you are applying for. If you are simply going to tour UK for a couple of weeks, this is the kind of VISA you should apply for:

You will be taken to this page, where you will have to fill up all the pertinent details requested in the tabs. If a black tab on the left turns green, it means that portion is complete. When all the black tabs are green, you can now click Confirm Application. TRIPLE CHECK all your inputted info since you can no longer go back to this once you’ve made a confirmation.Screen Shot 2015-08-04 at 4.47.20 PM

Step 4: Sign Declaration. Here, you merely need to input your name on the blank as it represents your signature.Screen Shot 2015-08-04 at 4.45.35 PM

Step 5: Book Appointment.  Here you will be asked the date, time and place where you will be submitting the documents for your Visa application. Make sure that all the documents that needs to be prepared are ready before the date (duh). Here is the site for VFSGlobaUk in the Philippines. This office is where they collect the documents for your VISA application. You have to pay within a 3-hour window time in order for the appointment to be validated.

Step 6: Pay for the Application. You will need a credit card to pay for your application. There is a two-step verification for the payment, ready your mobile phone for the code to be sent and entered. For this type of VISA (6-month, single, double and multiple), it costs 136USD. To determine VISA fees if you are travelling to different territories, go here.

Step 7: You’re done! Just show up at the VFS Center 20 minutes before your appointment time.

However, it is not indicated in this website (or anywhere else online), but at VFSGlobal Office there is an expediting option that will process your VISA for 3-5days. This costs P8,000.

There you go! Hope that helped! ^_^

Update: We got our visa mailed to our home after four days under the expedited option. We applied on a Tuesday and received our Visa together with the original documents we submitted on Saturday.
