Hey there! I know I’ve been away for the last two months and there’s a perfectly reasonable explanation for that: I became a creative (on the side).
I’ve always been a writer and I’ve done it as a passion project for pennies since I can remember. For the past three years, I had been the Editor of Absolutely Filipino Magazine, a British Columbia- Based Magazine. Aside from writing, I very much enjoyed doing interviews there with Filipino leaders and change-makers living both locally and internationally.
After moving on from AFM, I was referred to by a fellow lupus patient, to a local business, Farmcradle. And from April onwards, I was in charge of handling their heavy-hitting Facebook posts and contributed on information dissemination, news, exposure and trust-building.
My boss Joey have decided to become more involved in the record label and my video editing skills was put to the test when I made a teaser video for We Are Imaginary’s Dekada (Single) Release. From this point, I decided to jump into video editing and my skills are being refined each time I make a new video. (During the start of the year, I was already considering adding video editing as part of my skill set, but I wasn’t pushed to do it on my own… up until I had to.)
In the past month, I’ve learned how to manipulate the Elementor Tool on WordPress and just recently dabbled with WiX website builder. I’ve used iMovie for my early video editing days, and moved to Filmora. Later this month or the next, I’m getting the Final Cut Pro X.
I took up Social Media Management classes on Udemy, purchased a new MacBook Pro, and prior to writing this post, have submitted a video draft for a Big Bike business. If that goes well there might be more in store for our partnership that involves writing, video editing, going to their events and meeting new people.
I don’t know yet what the future will hold, but one thing is for sure, you’ll never know what you want until you try it and I found that I very much enjoy being a creative.
What have you been up to lately?
